Hamas denies request to open Jordan offices

GAZA CITY – Palestinian resistance group Hamas has denied reports that Jordan had turned down a request by the group to open offices in the Hashemite kingdom.

"Hamas categorically denies reports that it asked to open offices in Jordan," the movement said in a Wednesday statement.

Jordan's Al-Arab al-Yawm newspaper had earlier reported that Amman had refused a request by Hamas to open offices in the country.

Jordan closed Hamas' Amman office in 1999 and expelled several group members from the country.
