4 dead, including shooter, and 16 other people were injured at the Army installation at Fort Hood, Texas in U.S. on Wednesday
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Three people have been killed, and 14 others wounded, after a shooting at the Texas Army Base in Fort Hood, U.S. on Wednesday.
Texas Republican Representative, Michael McCaul identified the gunman as Ivan Lopez, who opened fire before committing suicide.
In 2009, Fort Hood military base was attacked by an Army psychiatrist Nidal Malik Hasan, resulting in the killing of 13 people and the wounding of 32 others.
After the attack, U.S. President Barack Obama said, "We're heartbroken that something like this has happened again," referring to the 2009 attack, and he reassured that they would get to the bottom of exactly what happened.
“They serve with valor; they serve with distinction. And when they are at their home base they need to feel safe. We don’t yet know what happened tonight, but obviously that sense of safety has been broken once again. And we’re going to have to find out exactly what happened,” he said.
