At least 5 people were injured when mortar shells fired on Damascus
DAMASCUS – At least five people were injured when mortar shells were fired Wednesday on the Damascus neighborhood where Syrian President’s Bashar Assad's house is said to be located, according to Syria's state-run news agency, SANA.
A number of houses were destroyed, according to a safety official who spoke with SANA.
SANA also reported on two other mortar shell strikes, saying that two people were injured in a strike on the suburbs of Damascus, and a mortar shell hit the Syrian state television building, but there were no casualties.
No group has yet claimed responsibility for the attacks.
Rebels frequently target Damascus, the seat of Assad's power, with mortar shells.
