Ministry of Transport and Communication announces it is removing the block after Turkey's highest court decided it violated user rights
ANKARA - Twitter will soon be accessible from Turkey, according to the Ministry of Transport and Communication.
The two-week block on access to the popular micro-blogging website will be lifted within hours once technical details are sorted, according to the ministry's statement on Thursday.
Turkey's telecoms authority TIB had earlier removed court rulings on the block from its website, signalling the move to restore access to the website.
On Wednesday, Turkey's Constitutional Court ruled that the ban on Twitter violated the right to freedom of expression and demanded access be restored.
