ATHENS - The cash-strapped Greek Table Tennis Federation has had to borrow €23,000 from its athletes in order for them to take part in the 2014 World Table Tennis Championships, the organization's chief has disclosed.
Greek Table Tennis Federation chairperson Manolis Kolimbadis said in a statement on Friday that he had been touched by the brave and loyal attitude shown by the athletes.
"I'm proud of these guys individually. It's very exemplary behavior as they did not hesitate to support the Greek Table Tennis Federation. I'm really affected in an emotional way," he said.
The tournament is to be held in the French capital, Paris, between April 28 and May 5.
