SAMARRA, Iraq – An Iraqi intelligence officer and a soldier were killed Friday in a bomb blast in the northern city of Samara, a security source said.
Six people, including five soldiers, were also injured when a light-bulb bomb exploded at a security patrol in al-Rakka district, police official Omar al-Jabouri told Anadolu Agency.
No group has claimed responsibility for the explosion.
Recent months have seen an uptick in violence across Iraq. Although most attacks go unclaimed, Iraqi authorities usually point the finger at Al-Qaeda-linked militants.
