SANAA – Yemen and the United Nations Development Fund signed on Sunday an agreement for $7.3 million in grants to support the transition in the restive Arab country.
The grants aim at supporting peace, boosting public participation in peacemaking and development and reintegrating marginalized Yemenis, including women and youth, into the development process, the official SABA news agency reported.
It added that the two sides also signed an agreement to enhance the capacities of Yemen's election commission and help it carry out its duties during future elections in the Arab country.
Yemen has remained in a state of relative chaos since the ouster of long-ruling president Ali Abdullah Saleh in early 2012.
