Algeria says it killed 'female terrorist'

ALGIERS – The Algerian army has announced killing a "female terrorist" during an operation in the northeastern province of Jijel on Saturday.
In a Sunday statement, the Ministry of Defense said the army had killed the woman and retrieved two machine guns, a semiautomatic rifle and large quantities of ammunition during the operation.
It did not, however, identify the slain woman.
Provinces to the east of the capital Algiers are thought to be the stronghold of militants associated with Al-Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb.
They are known to have a limited number of females within their ranks, but they rarely participate in combat, according to security experts.
