A court in Turkey's capital, Ankara, opts to lift the two-week-long block on YouTube after an appeal by video sharing website's lawyer
ANKARA - According to information obtained by Anadolu Agency, Ankara's Golbasi Court has ordered the lifting of the block on YouTube after the website's lawyer, Gonenc Gurkaynak, appealed.
On March 27 Turkey's telecoms authority announced an "administrative" block on the popular video sharing site, YouTube, after a leaked recordings of a security meeting of high-ranking officials appeared on the site.
The Turkish capital's court had on April 4 overturned a previous decision to end the blockage on the grounds that the website still hosted the legally questionable content.
A separate block on microblogging site Twitter was also lifted Thursday following an order from Turkey's Constitutional Court.
