CAIRO – The pro-democracy National Alliance for the Defense of Legitimacy has called for a fresh week of demonstrations against last summer's ouster of elected president Mohamed Morsi by the army.
In a Thursday statement, the alliance called on followers to stage demonstrations countrywide to voice their rejection of "all measure that aim to spark chaos and destruction".
It went on to call on supporters to prepare for what it described as a "revolutionary leap."
Egypt has been dogged by instability since the army unseated Morsi, the country's first freely elected president, last July following massive protests against his administration.
Pro-democracy protesters have been staging almost daily rallies ever since.
