SANAA – Yemeni authorities have arrested three gang members for kidnapping two Saudi nationals last month, the Yemeni Defense Ministry said Saturday.

Security forces arrested the three members, including the gang leader, at a checkpoint in Hajjah province on borders with Saudi Arabia, a ministry statement quoted a security source as saying.

Two Saudis had been kidnapped in the Yemeni city of Harad, near the border with Saudi Arabia earl March, but were released one day later.

Kidnappings for ransom are common in Yemen, one of the poorest Arab country.
