CAIRO – The body of a dead student was found inside Cairo University on Monday, an administrative security source said.
The body was found near one of the university's gates and was brought to hospital for identification, the source told Anadolu Agency.
The "Students against the coup" group, for its part, identified the slain student as Mohamed Adel.
In a Facebook statement, the group alleged that Adel had been killed when security forces fired buckshot and live ammunition at a student rally.
In a statement, the Egyptian Health Ministry said three people had been injured by buckshot while four others had suffered temporary asphyxiation.
Eyewitnesses, meanwhile, said that a journalist was shot in the chest when students affiliated with the Muslim Brotherhood tried to storm the building housing the office of the university president and security forces fired teargas and warning shots to disperse them.
