RAMALLAH – One Israeli was killed and two others were injured in a Monday shooting near an army checkpoint in the West Bank, an Israeli military spokesman said.

"An Israeli civilian was killed and two others were wounded," Peter Lerner said via Twitter.

Israeli daily Yediot Aharonot had earlier reported that two Israelis had been injured by gunfire near the West Bank city of Al-Khalil (Hebron).

According to the newspaper, Palestinians opened fire on the car in which the two Israelis were driving in the village of Tarqumiyah northwest of Hebron.
