ANKARA - The UEFA Champions League semi-final stage is set to begin on Tuesday with Spain's Atletico Madrid hosting Chelsea from England in Madrid.

The first leg at "Atleti"s home ground - the Vicente Calderon Stadium - will kick off at 8.45 p.m. CET (1845GMT).

Chelsea's Serbian defender Branislav Ivanovic is unable to play due to his suspension.

Another first leg match in the semi-final phase will be played between Spanish giants Real Madrid and the last season's winners of the UEFA Champions League, Bayern Munich from Germany, on Wednesday.

The clash at Real Madrid's home, the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium, will also kick off at 8.45 p.m. CET (1845GMT).

Home team Real Madrid may lack two regulars - Spanish defender Alvaro Arbeloa and his teammate Jese - due to injuries. 

Meanwhile in Germany, Bayern Munich's Spanish midfielder Thiago Alcantara and Swiss international Xherdan Shaqiri will not be eligible for the game because of injuries.

April 22

Atletico Madrid vs Chelsea at 8.45 p.m. CET (1845GMT)

April 23

Real Madrid vs Bayern Munich at 8.45 p.m. CET (1845GMT)

Second legs will be played on 29-30 April.
