Turkish F-16 fighter jets patroling Turkey-Syria border were harassed, Turkish military says
ANKARA - Syria's missile systems 'harassed' Turkish fighter jets on Tuesday, the Turkish General Staff has announced in a statement.
The missiles deployed in Syria locked onto Turkish F-16 fighter jets for around two minutes as they were carrying out a routine combat air patrol along the Turkey-Syria border, according to the statement published on the General Staff's website.
Tensions in the area have remained high since Turkish forces shot down a Syrian warplane for entering its airspace on March 23.
The two countries' borders extend more than 800km.
