MOMBASA, Kenya – At least three people were killed and several others were injured late Saturday in two separate attacks in the Kenyan coastal city of Mombasa.
"A person who looked like an Asian entered Reef Hotel," Mwenda Njoka, the spokesman for Kenya's Internal Security Ministry, told Anadolu Agency.
"He had a bag like somebody who just came in casually to swim. He left the bag at the beach and it exploded," he added.
"There were no casualties but there was a stampede so some people may have been injured," said Njoka.
The second explosion, the spokesman added, occurred thirty minutes later at Mwembe Tayari along Jomo Kenyatta road.
"A fellow hurled a grenade at a bus around Mwembe Tayari, leaving three people died on the spot," added Njoka.
