FIFA president's plane makes forced landing in Algiers

ALGIERS – A plane carrying FIFA President Joseph Blatter made a forced landing at Houari Boumediene Airport in the Algerian capital Sunday while en route to Cameroon.

Blatter was welcomed at the airport by Algerian Football Federation President Mohamed Raouraoua, according to the website of the Algerian federation.

Blatter was on his way to Cameroon to inaugurate a Confederation of African Football sports center when his plane suffered technical problems.

It was not immediately clear how long the FIFA chief had spent in Algiers before proceeding to Cameroon.
