IZMIR – Seven out of ten of the fastest growing countries of the last ten years are in Africa, said Ahmet Ciger vice President of Aegan branch of TUSKON - the Confederation of Businessmen and Industrialists of Turkey.
By 2020 African middle class expenditure is expected to reach US$1.4 trillion said Ciger during a meeting of Turkish and African businessmen taking place in Izmir.
The trade initiative is aimed at bringing together Turkish industrialists and prominent businessmen from Burkina Faso, Ghana, Niger and Nigeria and is called the “Turkey& Middle-West Africa Trade Bridges Initiative”.
“Forty percent of underutilized agricultural lands are located in Africa. I advise Turkish companies to exchange know-how with African counterparts for utilization of these lands with modern farming. We wish to see African continent as food supplier of the world with the help of forthcoming cooperation initiatives,” said Ciger.
