TUNIS – Tunisia's Ennahda movement on Monday denied statements attributed by an Emirati website to movement leader Rachid Ghannouchi in which the latter allegedly harshly criticized Egypt's Muslim Brotherhood.

"This news [the alleged statements] has nothing to do with reality," Ennahda said in a statement, adding that the website had simply fabricated Ghannouchi's alleged statements.

On Sunday, Emirati news website Erem claimed to have obtained statements made by Ghannouchi at a meeting of the international organization of the Muslim Brotherhood in mid-April, in which he allegedly lashed out at Egypt's Muslim Brotherhood.

The site claimed that Ghannouchi had described the Egyptian Brotherhood's leadership as "confused," "rebellious" and "childish."
