ADDIS ABABA – Chinese Premier Li Keqiang and Ethiopian counterpart Hailemariam Dessalegn on Monday inaugurated a new, 80-kilometer expressway.
The expressway, the first of its kind in Ethiopia, was built with $530 million loans secured from the Chinese Export Import (EX-IM) Bank.
The highway links Addis Ababa to the main southeast road, which also extends to the Port of Djibouti.
Keqiang arrived in Addis Ababa on Sunday for a three-day visit on the first leg of an African tour that will also take him to Nigeria, Angola and Kenya.
