10 'terrorists' killed on Algeria-Mali border

ALGIERS – Algerian army forces have killed ten "terrorists" in the Tin Zaouatine district on the border with Mali, the Defense Ministry said Tuesday.

In a statement, the ministry said that a cache of weapons – including 12 machineguns, ammunition and hand grenades – had also been seized.

According to the ministry, the army operation began on Monday.

Algeria has recently dispatched thousands of troops to its borders with Mali, Niger, Libya and Tunisia to fight militant groups operating in the area.
