Egyptian policeman killed north of Cairo

CAIRO – An Egyptian policeman was killed late Tuesday north of Cairo.
The policeman, Ahmed Mohamed Awwad, was killed by unidentified gunmen while driving home in the Qalioubiya province, the Qalioubiya Security Directorate said in a statement.
The statement cited criminal motives behind the killing, saying that one of the attackers was killed in an exchange of fire with the slain officer.
Security forces have launched a manhunt for the attackers.
