SANAA – The French embassy in Yemeni capital Sanaa on Wednesday announced the temporary suspension of its consular services without giving a reason for the move.
In a statement, the embassy said it was currently unable to issue visas or even take new visa applications.
It went on to ask visa applicants who had recently submitted their passports to take them back during the embassy's working hours.
"We apologize for this suspension and thank passport owners for their understanding," the embassy stated.
It did not, however, specify the duration of the service suspension.
The U.S. embassy in Sanaa also temporarily suspended its activity last Wednesday, citing what it called "security reasons."
