SANAA – A senior intelligence officer was killed Wednesday in Yemen's southern Hadharamaut province, a security source has said.
Saleh bin Thabet, chief of intelligence for the Barum Mayfaa district, was gunned down by unidentified attackers outside his home, the source told Anadolu Agency.
There has been no claim of responsibility, while Yemeni authorities have yet to comment on the incident.
Yemen has been dogged by turmoil since pro-democracy protests in 2011 forced autocratic president Ali Abdullah Saleh to step down after 33 years in power.
In the three years since, authorities have struggled to restore law and order.
