U.S. President conveys his condolences to Turkey and offers assistance
ANKARA - U.S. President Barack Obama phoned Turkish President Abdullah Gul Friday to pass on his condolences to those affected by the deadly mining disaster in Soma, western Turkey.
Obama also offered U.S. assistance if needed, Turkish officials said.
Elsewhere Serbia's Foreign Minister Ivitsa Dacic visited the Turkish Embassy in Belgrade Friday to voice his deep sorrow over the mine disaster.
Bosnia and Herzegovina Foreign Minister Zlatko Lagumdzija visited the Turkish Embassy in Sarajevo and said it was difficult to express the tragedy in words.
"It is also difficult to find the words to console Turkish citizens," Lagumdzija added.
