CAIRO – Egypt has agreed to host a conference on border security this year, Libya's Foreign Minister Mohamed Abdel-Aziz said on Saturday.
In a statement, the Egyptian Foreign Ministry quoted Abdel-Aziz as saying that Libya's neighboring countries will attend the conference, which will focus on cooperation on border security.
The top Libyan diplomat, however, did not say when the conference will be held or give details about participants.
Abdel-Aziz said Egyptian Foreign Minister Nabil Fahmi suggested during their meeting that an official Libyan delegation will visit Cairo to discuss with Egyptian officials means of solving problems in a "correct and professional" manner.
Libya has been suffering internal turmoil since the revolution that toppled ex-strongman Muammar Gaddafi in 2011.
The Libyan border has been a headache for Egypt amid proliferation of weapons in Libya.
