Regions across north and western France are placed on orange alert - the second highest weather warning - as storms are predicted to last until the end of the week
PARIS - Twenty-nine regions in northern and western France are put on orange flood alert on Wednesday, says France Meteo, the French national meteorological service.
Storms are currently hitting the western region of Gironde, as well as the neighboring western region of Poitou-Charente and will intensify throughout Wednesday afternoon as they pass through several regions which are on alert, say the meteorological service.
Finistere, a region in the extreme west of Brittany, in the northwest of France, has been placed under red alert.
Excessive rain, high winds and storms are expected to last until the end of the week, says France Meteo.
