BAKU – Turkey’s Interior Minister Efkan Ala on Monday thanked Azerbaijan for offering assistance after the Soma mine disaster where 301 miners lost their lives.
“When any disaster happens in Turkey or in Azerbaijan, we do our part to help," Ala said during his visit to Azerbaijan where he met with President Ilham Aliyev. "It is in our benefit to share our mutual experiences.”
On May 13, an explosion in a mine in Soma, in the western part of Turkey, claimed 301 lives, making it the deadliest mining incident in Turkey’s history.
The Azerbaijani government expressed its condolences to the Turkish people following the tragedy.
