Monday, June 09, 2014
ANKARA - Miami Heat beat the San Antonio Spurs on the road 98-96 to tie in game two of the National Basketball Association Finals series winning one a piece.
There was no air conditioning problem this time as in the first game and no leg cramps for Lebron James "King James" who finished with 35 points, 10 rebounds, 3 assists and 2 steals.
Since Lebron and Bosh joined Miami in 2010, the Heat have made a comeback from losing the first game, to win all five of the second games in the series including Sunday night's game.
The Spurs scored at will in the first quarter similarly to how they finished game one, but they failed to improve to score double digits after committing three turnovers in a row to finish the first quarter 26-19 ahead.
The game heated up in the second quarter, with James scoring 11 points to shatter the Spurs' 11-point lead from the early play. The game was tied 43 at half time.
Both teams found good scoring numbers in the third quarter, combining a total of 69 points, with the Spurs leading 78-77 at the end of the third quarter.
In the deciding quarter, at the 6.43 mark, Parker was hit in play to give him two free throws. Parker missed both and then Tim Duncan, San Antonio Spurs' power forward, missed another two free throws and the momentum switched back to the Heat.
Miami managed to protect their lead right through the finish line and stole game two on the road. Game three for Miami will be played back home.
Chris Bosh, Dwayne Wade and Rashard Lewis helped James with a combined score of 46 points.
The Spurs' big trio performance was not enough with Duncan scoring 18 points and pulling down 15 rebounds and Manu Ginobili scoring 19 off the bench.
Tony Parker led the Spurs with 21 points, passing former Chicago Bulls player Scottie Pippen for the 13th on the all-time playoffs scoring list with 3,655 points.
He also dished out 7 assists and moved past Michael Jordan, another former Bull, for eighth place on the all-time playoffs list with 1,026.
The third game of the series will be played in Miami on Tuesday, at 9 p.m. local time (02:00GMT).
