Aid agency in Turkey provides supplies to coastal enclave through air corridor
ANKARA – The Turkish Disaster Management Agency has sent 68.5 tonnes of humanitarian aid to besieged Gaza through an air corridor, according to the agency’s chief.
Fuat Ozkay, Director General of AFAD, said in Ankara on Monday his organization has been cooperating with The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) and will keep sending aid to the area.
At least 1,940 Palestinians have been killed in one of Israel's deadliest-ever offensives on the Gaza Strip, according to Palestinian officials, while around 10,000 Palestinians have been injured.
Israeli sources say 64 soldiers have died along with three civilians who were killed in rocket attacks.
The attacks caused a humanitarian disaster in the besieged area which has been already struggling with an Israeli embargo.
