AMMAN, Jordan - Turkey’s parliament speaker said Monday that Turkey, Jordan and other countries in the region should collaborate to fight the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant, or ISIL.

Cicek said that terrorist organizations like ISIL were damaging the name of Islam and the reputation of Muslim peoples in the region.

“The terror organizations, which say they fight in the name of Islam, have betrayed Allah, the Prophet and the Koran,” Cicek said.

Cicek also insisted on the importance of the establishment of peace and stability in the Middle East.

Cicek slammed Israel for its continuing attacks on Palestine.

“Israel's reckless attitude is unacceptable," he said.

He said Turkey had been one of the first countries to react to Israel's attacks on Palestine, adding that Turkey’s relations with Israel were now at a low level.

Parliament Speaker Cemil Cicek was on his official visit to Jordan, and he met with the Speaker of the Chamber of Deputies of Jordan Atef Tarawneh.
