Kazakhstan's foreign minister to visit Turkey

- Kazakhstan's foreign minister will visit Turkey on Dec. 29 within the scope of a joint cooperation meeting, Turkey's Foreign Ministry has said.

ANKARA (AA) - Kazakhstan's foreign minister will visit Turkey on Dec. 29 within the scope of a joint cooperation meeting, Turkey's Foreign Ministry announced Thursday.

Foreign Minister Erlan Idrissov Idrissov will attend the second Joint Strategic Planning Group meeting for preparations of the second High Level Strategic Cooperation Council between Kazakhstan and Turkey.

"During the visit, opportunities for enhancing relations and cooperation with our strategic partner Kazakhstan, and recent regional and international developments will be discussed," the ministry said in a statement.

The first meeting of the High Level Strategic Cooperation Council was conducted during Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev's visit to Turkey in October 2012.

Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu, who was then the foreign minister, also paid an official visit to Kazakhstan on April 26 and 27, 2013.

Trade volume between the two countries amounted to $3.1 billion in 2012. Moreover, projects of Turkish firms in Kazakhstan exceeded $17 billion, Turkish Foreign Ministry's official website said.
