Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan welcomed his Azerbaijani counterpart Ilham Aliyev in an official ceremony at the presidential palace on Thursday

ANKARA - Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan welcomed his Azerbaijani counterpart Ilham Aliyev in an official ceremony at the presidential palace on Thursday. 

The ceremony was attended by Turkish Deputy Prime Minister Yalcin Akdogan, Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu, Economy Minister Nihat Zeybekci, Energy Minister Taner Yildiz and Communication Minister Lutfu Elvan.

The Azerbaijani president visited the capital Ankara to attend the fifth meeting of the High-level Strategic Cooperation Council and the two sides are expected to discuss bilateral relations and cooperation.

The two leaders are also due to hold a joint press conference.

"Regional and international developments that interest the two countries will be discussed," an earlier statement from the presidency said.

Political, economic and cultural cooperation as well as trade volume between the two countries are among the issues that are expected to be discussed.
