Body of Turkish sailor recovered in Italy

ROME – The body of a Turkish sailor missing after his merchant vessel collided with another ship last month has been recovered near the Italian port of Ravenna, officials said Thursday.

Zeynel Ustun, 45, was one of four Turkish sailors who were listed as missing after the “Gokbel” collided with the “Lady Aziza” in thick mist some three miles from the entrance to the Adriatic port on December 28.

Two other sailors were killed in the collision and five were injured.

The office of the Ravenna harbormaster was in communication with the Turkish consulate in Milan so that family members could be contacted.
