ANKARA (AA) - Turkey strongly condemned the attack in Pakistan's Lahore city Tuesday that left eight people dead and several people injured.

Turkey's Foreign Ministry released a statement to offer condolences to the victims’ families and wished a quick recovery to the injured.

"Turkey will continue to stand with Pakistan and its brotherly people as always in their struggle against terrorism," the statement said.

The powerful blast took place in Lahore at a time when Turkish Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu was on an official visit to Pakistan in capital Islamabad, where he met with Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif. The two leaders resolved to cooperate even more closely in the fight against terrorism.

This is the second terrorist attack within a week in Pakistan. Terrorists attacked a Shia mosque in the northwestern city of Peshawar that killed 23 worshipers during Friday prayers last week.
