Turkey in 2003: September
September 1
- Denizli Governor Recep Yazicioglu who had a different understanding of administration, had a traffic accident on the way to Ankara.
September 5
- Conciliatory Board decided to increase the wages of civil servants by 10 percent for the first half of 2004 and by 8 percent for the second half. The Board also foresaw an increase of 200 million Turkish Liras for the losses in the year 2003. The government didn't accept those figures.
September 8
- Denizli Governor Recep Yazicioglu died in hospital.
September 9
- AK Party deputy Emin Sirin resigned from his party and the number of AK Party's seats in the parliament decreased to 367.
September 10
- A passenger bus en route from Samsun to Istanbul was hijacked by a person, namely Necdet Tabak. Tabak who took hostage two persons, was rendered ineffective by gendarmerie after 8.5 hours.
September 12
- Bahattin Uzan who was wanted in connection with Imar Bank investigation was arrested.
September 15
- The new education year in elementary and high schools started. Course books were given to students free of charge for the first time.
September 19
- National Security Council (NSC) discussed the support which Turkey, targeting protection of its national interests and security in an effective way, could extent to its neighbor Iraq for Iraq's reaching prosperity within national unity and integrity in the shortest time and for installation of security and stability in the region.
September 21
- New Turkey Party (YTP) first regular congress convened and Ismail Cem was re-elected as its leader.
September 23
- In the office of Health Minister Recep Akdag, two tapping devices were found. The devices were not active.
September 26
- A red bulletin was issued about Kemal and Yavuz Uzan within the scope of Imar Bank investigation.
September 27
- The first mini observation satellite of Turkey which was produced by a unit of Scientific and Technical Research Council of Turkey (TUBITAK) by transfer of technology was launched to space from Russia.
September 29
- The sixth penal department of Supreme Court of Appeals approved the one year imprisonment given to four administrators of People's Democracy Party (DEHAP) for forgery. Therefore, the probability of invalidity of the votes which DEHAP won in the general elections came to agenda.
Higher Board of Election Chairman Tufan Algan said they would announce their decision in the shortest time.
September 30
- Political parties of DYP, IP, Genc Party, SP, DP, MHP and LPD applied to Higher Board of Election requesting the cancellation of the elections following the conviction of former administrators of DEHAP.
- A decision of arrestment in absentia was given about Hakan Uzan within the scope of Imar Bank investigation.
